In this section, we are going to take a look at the word เอา.

The following are the common meanings, you probably already know.

• เอา means to want to get (เอาอันนี้ไหม = Want to get this one?)

• เอา is used when you order something (เอากาแฟครับ = I want coffee.)

• เอา means to bring, to take (เอา...มา = to bring, เอา...ไป = to take)

But เอา is also found in many patterns that you will hear all the time and it's important that you know what they mean.

You will learn:

1. เอาแต่ + verb = Only … all the time

2. เอาแต่ + nouns = Only the ... (and nothing else)

3. V+เอา+V+เอา = Keep doing something over and over

4. เอาแล้ว = Oh no!

5. Verb + เอาแล้วกัน = No obligation

6. เอาเอง = On your own without my help

7. เอาจริงๆ = To tell you the truth
